聚苯硫醚（全稱聚次苯基硫醚，英文名Polyphenylene Sulfide，以下簡稱PPS）是一種具有優良性能的特種工程塑料，目前已有從特種工程塑料的*大類發展成為繼聚碳酸酯、聚酯、聚甲醛、尼龍、聚苯醚之后第六種通用工程塑料的態勢。PPS是國外對我國封鎖的高技術產品之一，在國外也僅有美國、日本和德國能實現工業化生產。PPS是一種具有芳香環，4，4’位帶有硫原子的高分子化合物。密度1．34，熔點280～290℃，熱分解溫度在430。C左右。PPSzui早是在1988年由Grenvesse用苯與硫在AICl。催化下利用Friedel—Crafts反應合成的叫。19世紀末20世紀初一些化學工作者報道了與之類似的合成法，如Deuss將苯硫’酚與A1C1。作用得到一種PPS；Hill利用在濃H。SO。存在下苯硫酚的加聚反應麗制成了一種奶油色不溶性粉狀.應用：在電器/ 電子工業中,用于制備電氣接插件和插座,電機、電容器和許多精密儀器的配件、保險基座等,電視機、電熨斗、照相機、復印機、電腦、微波爐等電器的配件等。在機械工業中,PPS 特別適應于在高熱、強腐蝕環境下油井深處部件制備,在化工行業常作泵、閥門、壓縮機零件,齒輪、計量儀表、密封墊等。PPS 在汽車工業中的應用增長速度zui快。因PPS 耐高溫并不受腐蝕等特點,成為汽車理想的用品。常用于制備動力制動裝置和動力導向系統的旋轉式葉片、溫度傳感器、氣化器、進氣管、汽油泵等。另外PPS 在*方面用于制作導彈外殼的燃燒層及導彈垂直尾翼部件。PPS 還可以制備合金、結構泡沫及航空工業的*復合材料...
性能：
耐熱。可在200～240℃下連續使用，在低于400℃的空氣或氮氣中較穩定，基本無重量損失，且機械性能在高溫下不降低，是目前使用溫度zui高的熱塑性工程塑料之一。②耐腐蝕。其耐化學腐蝕性與號稱塑料*的聚四氟乙烯（PTFE）相近，能抵抗酸、堿、烴、酮、醇、酯、氯烴等化學品的侵蝕，在200℃下不溶于任何化學溶劑。在250℃以上僅溶于聯苯、聯苯醚及其鹵代物。⑧優良的介電性能。介電常數為3．9～5．1，介電強度13～17 kV／mm，在高溫、高濕、變頻等環境中具有很高的體積電阻率、表面電阻率，能保持良好的絕緣性。④阻燃性好。氧指數為46～53，在火焰上能燃燒，但不會滴落，且離火自熄，發煙率低于鹵化聚合物。不需添加阻燃劑就可達到UL一94V一0標準。⑤尺寸穩定。
