FX系列PLC的系統(tǒng)配置靈活，用戶除了可選不同的子系列外，還可以選用多種基本單
元、擴展單元和擴展模塊，組成不同I/O點和不，同功能的控制系統(tǒng)，各種配置都可以得到很高的性能價格比。FX系列的硬件配置就像模塊式PLC那樣靈活，因為它的基本單元采用整體式結(jié)構(gòu)，又具有比模塊式PLC更高的性能價格比。
每臺PLC可將一塊功能擴展板安裝在基本單元內(nèi)，不需要外部的安裝空間，這種功能
擴展板的價格非常便宜，功能擴展板有以下品種：4點開關(guān)量輸入板、2點開關(guān)量輸出板、2
路模擬量輸入板、1路模擬量輸出板、8點模擬量調(diào)整板、RS–232C通信板、RS-485通信板和RS-422通信板。
顯示模塊FX1N–5DM的價格便宜，可以直接安裝在FX1S和FX1N上，它可以顯示實時鐘的當(dāng)前時間和錯誤信息，可對定時器、計數(shù)器和數(shù)據(jù)寄存器等進行監(jiān)視，可對設(shè)定值進行修改。

功能強，使用方便
FX系列的體積雖小，卻具有很強的功能。它內(nèi)置高速計數(shù)器，有輸入輸出刷新、中斷、輸入濾波時間調(diào)整、恒定掃描時間等功能，有高速計數(shù)器的比較指令。使用脈沖列輸出功能，可直接控制步進電動機或伺服電動機。脈沖寬度調(diào)制功能可用于溫度控制或照明燈的調(diào)光控制。可設(shè)置8位數(shù)字密碼，以防止別人對用戶程序的誤改寫或盜用，保護設(shè)計者的知識產(chǎn)權(quán)。FX系列的基本單元和擴展單元一般采用插接式的接線端子排，更換單元方便快捷。
FX1S和FXlN系列PLC使用EEPROM，不需要定期更換鋰電池，成為幾乎不需要維護的電子控制裝置；FX2N系列使用帶后備電池的RAM。若采用可選的存儲器擴充卡盒，FX2N的用戶存儲器容量可擴充到16K步，可選用RAM，EPROM和EEPROM儲存器卡盒。
