High-performance engineering thermoplastics, performance fibers and thermoplastic composites dramatically reduce weight, improve reliability and provide safety for extreme applications. Now they are being adapted for challenging solutions in bus, truck and rail vehicle construction.
The Celanese portfolio of high-performance engineering polymers offer opportunities for use in components found throughout these transportation vehicles. They are designed to be light and easy to process and can be modified to meet a wide range of needs – hard, impact-resistant, stiff when exposed to elevated temperatures and aggressive fuels, or to provide a pleasant soft-touch effect or a special look.

High-performance engineering thermoplastics, performance fibers and thermoplastic composites are:
- high-heat resistant — exceptional high-temperature performance
- chemical resistant — outstanding resistance to fuels, oils, solvents and anti-icing agents, and extremely low moisture absorption
- environmental resistant — withstands exposure to UV, cold, heat, moisture, etc.
- durable — excellent elasticity and strength
- structural — exceptionally strong polymers that perform under load
- flame resistant — UL 94 V-0 performance (some grades with 5 VA) without addition of flame retardants
- lightweight — many components are 20 percent lighter than those made from traditional materials such as metal and light alloys
- cost-efficient — save 10 to 50 percent, depending on manufacturing
